Last year, I made this luxurious Pumpkin Soap and it looked a lot like the prickly pear, just a different color scheme. This year, I wanted it to have a different appearance.
When my kids were small, they’d ask me for pumpkin pie frequently. I grew pumpkins back then and always had a lot of pumpkin in the freezer. It wasn’t that big a deal to make them a pumpkin pie. One of the things they’d chant every summer was “pumpkin pie on the 4th of July!” 🙂
I’d make a rich pumpkin custard pie, then honey vanilla whipped cream to top it. And that’s what I had in mind while making this.
Absolutely gorged with pumpkin purée, Pumpkin Porter from Barrio Brewing Co., local lard from E & R Pork, local grass fed beef tallow, and a quart of local goat milk, this is, bar none, one of the most luxurious, non-drying, gentlest soaps your skin will ever experience.
The scent is an essential oil/fragrance blend (paraben & phthalate free of course)
Even though I made double the amount this year, people have been asking for it already and I don’t expect it to be around too long. 🙂
